So where the heck is Dutch Harbor, anyway?

Dutch Harbor is the main port of the city of Unalaska. Unalaska is located on Unalaska Island and neighboring Amaknak Island in the Aleutian Islands off of mainland Alaska. Dutch is actually on Amaknak Island, and is connected to Unalaska Island by a bridge.

Yes, it’s the same place where you see the Deadliest Catch guys re-supply and generally get into trouble. Want to know more? Here’s a good description of the area, as well as some history. Just a little preview of what our Michael is in for.

Tracking Michael

We’ve created this blog keep track of Michael Rosenthal’s progress as he captains a crabbing boat around the Aleutian islands.

He’ll be away from Island Fitness for two months, and he will be missed! But maybe this way, we can keep a connection to him that will help bring him safely home.
